VIKAS
BAJAJ was born in Bombay and raised primarily in Bangkok,
Thailand. He caught the journalism bug in high school while working for
the student newspaper. To the amusement of his family, he made his way
to Michigan State University to study journalism and work at the student
paper. While there (1994-98), he interned at The Chronicle of Higher Education
in Washington and The Associated Press in Bangkok. After graduating, he
took an internship at The Dallas Morning News. The folks
at the Morning News extended his internship for a year and in late 1999
he became a permanent staffer on the business desk. After covering employment
and labor issues for almost a year, he now covers the telecom beat for
the paper. It is, he says, "a great job." In
Dec. 1999, he attended the Wharton Seminar for Business Writers at the
University of Pennsylvania. -30-
