Murali Balaji

Murali Balaji is a general assignment/education reporter for the News
Journal in Delaware. He joined the News Journal in late 2002 after more than
two years at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, where he covered everything from
sports to the U.S. Senate.

Murali was born in Mumbai, India, and spent most of his life before college
growing up in the Philadelphia-area. He then went to the University of
Minnesota, which led him to the Pioneer Press in the summer of 2000.

Murali was recently appointed to the SAJA Board. He has also served as president of the Asian American Journalists Association of Minnesota and has lectured at various colleges and universities, including the University of Minnesota and the University of Maryland-College Park.

Murali also has a book project in the works and also plans on pursuing his
law degree part-time in the near future.
