At CNBC,
Asha interviewed guests about their stock picks [no, she did not profit
from their tips], learned all about HTML coding and collaborated with
CNBCs producers on the web site. In addition, she survived three
rounds of layoffs and CNBC.coms subsequent takeover by Microsoft.
Before entering
the world of business journalism, Asha toiled behind the camera, in the
nations capital, with the likes of Wolf Blitzer, Rev. Jesse Jackson,
Bob Novak, Mark Shields, Margaret Carlson, Al Hunt, Kate OBierne,
Howard Kurtz and Bernard Kalb at CNN's D.C. bureau. Her responsibilities
included developing ideas, producing packages and floor directing for
The Capital Gang, Reliable Sources, Late Edition Sunday, and the now-defunct
Investigating the President/Trial of the President. Prior to her time
at CNN, Asha worked for America's Black Forum, a nationally syndicated
news show. She wore many hats at ABF, including that of writer, publicist
and advertising coordinator. She began
her career as a reporter for Wolfe Community Newspapers in Victor, NY,
covering school board meetings, the local angle on the 1992 presidential
election, and parrying questions as to whether shed be getting an
arranged marriage someday [scary, but true]. Her experience
also includes a stint as a specialty press reporter for the 1996 Democratic
National Convention and as a multimedia/print news intern for Bloomberg
Business News in Washington, D.C. Asha has
a Masters in Journalism from The American University in Washington,
D.C., and a B.A. in Communications from the State University of New York
at Buffalo. She is a
member of the SAJA Board and was one of the judges
for the 2002 SAJA Scholarships. E-mail: acaroline@yahoo.com
