ASHA BLAKE is one of the most prominent South Asians on American television. As co-host of "Later Today" on NBC (9-10 a.m., weekdays), Asha is seen in millions of households each day. Her co-hosts are Florence "Mrs. Brady" Henderson and Jodi Applegate.

In January 2000, A. Magazine named her one of the 20 Asian Americans to Watch in the 21st Century.

Most recently, she was anchor of the 4 p.m. newscast on KNBC in Los Angeles.

Prior to that, she joined ABC News in New York in October 1996. Asha was a correspondent in the network’s New York bureau. She became one of the anchors of “World News Now,” ABC’s top-rated overnight news broadcast and “World News This Morning.” Additionally, she contributed reports on medical issues to other ABC News programs.

Prior to joining ABC News, she anchored the weekend newscast at WDIV-TV in Detroit. She also reported on medical issues for the station, covering topics such as breast cancer, medical fraud and vaccinations. Her work at WDIV-TV earned her several awards, including two Emmys.

Asha reported for KARE-TV in Minneapolis from 1987 to 1993, where she covered medical stories as well as breaking news. During this time, she also worked as national correspondent for USA Today’s “The TV Show.” Ms. Blake’s first job in television was at KJCT-TV, in Grand Junction, Colorado where she anchored the newscast and reported on daily breaking news.

Asha received a degree from the University of Minnesota Journalism School.
