York. The electronic equivalent of the front page of a newspaper, TOP is
the best-read page of Bloomberg, with well over 550,000 external hits a
day.
He was previously assistant managing editor of Institutional Investor
magazine, a contributing editor to Masala.com, and senior editor of The
Boston Consulting Group. From 1993 through 1998, Chakravarty was an Assistant Managing Editor of Forbes Magazine. From 1991 onwards, he was responsible for coordinating Forbes' analytical coverage of large corporations and mentoring writers, while continuing to write. In 1993 Chakravarty received the Overseas Press Club's Citation for Excellence for his 1992 article on India's economic reforms, "Getting the Elephant to Dance", the first article on the subject in a general interest U.S. publication. He joined Forbes in 1972, working for the magazine for 23 years. Chakravarty has also worked as an institutional analyst at First Manhattan Co., covering multi-industry companies (1986-1987); as Manager-Corporate Planning at Goodyear India Ltd. (1976-1979); and as a Research Assistant and case-writer at the Harvard Business School (1970-1972). Born in India, Chakravarty received a Senior Cambridge degree from The Doon School in India. He has an AB in Intensive Political Science from Yale University (1969) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School (1971).
