STEVE COLL has been a foreign correspondent and editor at The Washington Post since 1985.

He is currently an associate editor, after being managing editor from 1998 to 2004.

He won a 2005 Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction for "Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001." See his entry in the Pulitzer Prize section of SAJA.org.

In 1987, he covered the world of corporate takeovers on Wall Street, the stock market crash, the Michael Milken investigations and the SEC as the Post's financial correspondent in New York.

In 1989, he moved to New Delhi to become the Post's South Asia correspondent. For three years he covered India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

He is the author of three other books and won a Pulitzer Prize for explanatory journalism about the SEC in 1990.

In 2002, he received SAJA's highest honor, the SAJA Journalism Leader Award in 2002 for his career as a foreign correspondent and his leadership at the Washington Post.
