Hotel Info:
Hotels in New York are expensive, especially during the peak tourist season in the summer, so it's advisable to book your room in advance.
THE FOLLOWING DEAL WORKS ONLY FROM THURSDAY, June 22.
SAJA has a contract rate with the Days Inn, 215 West 94th Street at Broadway, (212-866-6400), a short subway ride from Columbia. The rates for rooms reserved for the SAJA convention, before the end of June are $110 for rooms with a queen bed and $120 for a double, plus taxes and fees. Tell them you are attending the SAJA Convention.
After June 30, contact Brooke Webster, sales manager, at 646-698-0526 and he will offer you the best rate available at the time.
Meanwhile, a NYT guide to NYC hotels on the UWS is here.
Room Share:
Each year, several attendees find roommates in order to split costs. This year, Priyanka Pathak has kindly agreed to help coordinate the roommate shares. If you have a room already and are looking for a roommate, please send Priyanka a note at priyanka.pathak[at]gmail.com (subject line = Room available) with your name, your gender, your cellphone, e-mail and a line or two about yourself. If you don't have a room already and are looking to share, please send Priyanka a note at priyanka.pathak[at]gmail.com (subject line = Room wanted) with your name, your gender, your cellphone, e-mail and a line or two about yourself.
Deadline: July 8.

SAJA couch program for students [the deadline for this has passed]
Every year a handful of SAJA members volunteer their couches and spare bedrooms during the convention. This service will be limited to out-of-town students, because of the limited number of spaces available.
If you are a student and would like a couch, please email with the subject line: COUCH WANTED: July XX to July YY
If you are a N.Y.-based SAJA member and would like to volunteer a couch, please email with the following subject line: COUCH AVAILABLE: July XX to July YY; can host XX person/people
Requests will be processed on a first come, first served basis and as long as we have spaces available, so please get in touch sooner rather than latter.
Please note that you are using this service at your own risk and SAJA bears no responsibility.

AIRPORT TIP: Of the three airports, LGA is the closest to Columbia (25 minutes and $25 by taxi -- depending on the traffic; and about $1.50 and 1.5 hours by public bus, the M60. NWK and JFK are further than LGA is, but are roughly equidistant from Columbia. You basically can't go wrong with any of the three.
