RENA GOLDEN is executive vice president and general manager of CNN International. In this role, she oversees the editorial production, program development, talent and day-to-day operations of CNN International that encompasses seven English-language CNN networks that reach an audience of more than 160 television households worldwide in over 200 countries and territories.

Golden’s commitment to keeping CNN International at the forefront of comprehensive global information delivery is evident in her hands-on approach in directing the networks current editorial tone during its continuing coverage of the War in Iraq.

Through Golden’s guidance, CNN International has successfully integrated the networks’ trademark world news and global business news with double-anchored regional programs from London and Hong Kong. In the fall of 2002, she led the development of ‘Your World Today’, the four-hour fast-paced global news program anchored from CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta.

As the lead architect of the network’s ambitious “regionalization” strategy, an initiative that began in 1997, Golden has managed the launch of more than 80 hours of programming tailored for regional audiences. This strategy culminated with the March 2003 launch of CNN Internationals seventh network, CNNj—developed for Japanese viewers via a partnership with Japan Cable Television.

Golden is also responsible for the recruitment and management of CNN International's team of news anchors. Under Golden’s leadership, the network has employed anchors representing 15 different nationalities, reflecting CNN International’s diverse audience.

In her current role, Golden has also served as executive producer for major live events and breaking news including the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the beginning of air-strikes in the war in Afghanistan, the 100-hour Millennium 2000 programming and Great Britain's handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997. She began her career as a documentary producer for Turner Broadcasting in 1985 before becoming a writer and producer for both CNN International and CNN/U.S.

Golden, who was born in Bettiah, Bihar, India, earned a bachelor's degree with honors in English literature from the University of North Carolina.
