Profile of a SAJAer: Rummana Hussain Reporter E-mail: rummanahussain@hotmail.com Rummana Hussain Rummana Hussain Reporter/Editor E-mail: rummanahussain@hotmail.com Rummana Hussain is a general assignment reporter, editor and occasional columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times, where she recently served as an editorial board member, writing on a variety of national and international subjects, including immigration and Pakistan's tumultuous political landscape. She started at the Sun-Times in 2001 as assistant to news and entertainment columnist Michael "Mike" Sneed. Previously, she covered education and criminal courts for the Chicago Tribune and crime, education and City Hall for the now defunct City News Bureau of Chicago. Rummana was recently honored by local journalism groups for her work on breaking stories with her Sun-Times colleagues. She was also chosen as a Jefferson fellowship at Honolulu's East West Center in 2006. During that fellowship, Rummana traveled to India and Pakistan to study the rising economy in South Asia with several American and foreign journalists. Rummana received a B.A. in Communications from Loyola University in Chicago in 1993. She also has an M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University. She is a member of Chicago's South Asian Journalists Association and serves as the co-president of the Chicago chapter of Asian-American Journalists Association.
