Pradnya Joshi covers stock market and regulation as a business reporter at Newsday, one of the ten largest newspapers inthe U.S. with a daily circulation of 575,000 and Sunday circulation of 675,000. She has also worked on special projects for the paper, includingthe company's annual report on executive compensation and has previously covered other business beats including telecommunications and technology.

Before joining Newsday, she was a business reporter for about three years at The Milwaukee Journal, and, after a merger, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She interned as a business reporter at the Los Angeles Times and Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. In addition, she spent three months in Washington, D.C., covering the North American Free Trade Agreement passage for several small regional papers.

She graduated in 1993 with a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in journalism and international studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Her family settled in Texas after living in various parts of the world including Brazil, the Philippines and Washington state.

She has been a member of the Asian American Journalists Association for nine years and currently serves as president of the group's New York chapter. She is an active member of the South Asian Journalists Association.

Her husband, Ashutosh Kurlekar, is a healthcare consultant to hospitals. They enjoy watching Texas A&M Aggies, Northwestern Wildcats and other college football teams in their spare time.
