Beena
Kamlani is one
of the senior-most South Asians in the U.S. publishing business. Educated
in India and England, she has worked in book publishing in New York City
for over 20 years. She is a book editor at Viking Penguin, where she's
worked for the past twelve years. She has edited a wide range of books
and worked closely with many authors, including Robert Fagles, Josephine
Humphreys, Bob Shacochis, Terry McMillan, Jacqueline Mitchard, Peter Sheridan,
David Leavitt, and Garrison Keillor. She most
recently edited Nobel laureate Saul Bellow's new book, Ravelstein. She
is also an assistant professor of publishing at New York University, where
