David Lockwood
United Nations Development Programme

David  Lockwood, a graduate of the University of Durham (U.K.) in Law and Politics, has served all of his professional career with the United Nations. 

He has served in many of the country offices of UNDP in Asia and the Pacific in various positions of increasing seniority: Assistant Resident Representative in Nepal (1974-78) and Pakistan (1978-82), Deputy Resident Representative in Papua New Guinea (1983-85), Bhutan (1985-87), and China (1987-91), culminating in his appointment as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Afghanistan (1991-96) and in Bangladesh (1996-99) to which he brought special expertise in crisis and disaster management, and community-based development, including programmes with civil society and NGOs.
