| GURVIR
DHINDSA is an anchor on WTTG in Washington, D.C. and
the most high-profile South Asian TV journalist in the nation's
capital.
The award-winning journalist joined WTTG, the Fox affiliate
in September 2004, after four years at WUSA 9 News. Gurvir
came to W*USA 9 from Fox 5 in Atlanta, where she co-anchored "Good
Day Atlanta",
a three-hour long morning news program.
During her three years at Fox 5, Gurvir was nominated for two Emmy awards for her part in the station's coverage of Atlanta tornadoes and a school shooting in Conyers, Georgia.
Prior to joining Fox 5, she was a reporter and 6:00 and 10:00 pm anchor and reporter for WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi where she won numerous Associated Press awards for her reporting and anchoring, including several best documentary awards for her reporting on "Mississippi Profiles: Faces of Success," an hour-long program which profiled outstanding Mississippi people or businesses.
She also received several first place achievement awards for hosting "Viewpoint", a public affairs program, on issues ranging from school prayer to crime to racism.
Gurvir began her career as a production assistant at WTVF-TV in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee and spent three years as a reporter and morning anchor at WAPT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi.
Gurvir says her faith is the cornerstone of her life. She and her husband and four dogs live on a horse farm in Virginia.
