| SANDEEP JAUHAR the director of the Heart Failure Program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a medical journalist in New York City.
Since 1998, he has been writing regularly about medicine for the New York Times. His writing has also been published in Reader's Digest, Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, and he has appeared on CNN, CNN Headline News and National Public Radio.
He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley and went on to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. Before medical school, he was a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at Time magazine.
He is the recipient of a 2004 SAJA Special Recognition Award for outstanding stories about medicine. He is currently working on a book to be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
