Anusha Shrivastava, a corporate bonds reporter for Dow Jones Newswires, has been a business journalist for wire, print and broadcast media in the U.S., Canada and India.

She wrote about Connecticut's economy and its manufacturing, energy and small business sectors for The Republican-American and the Hartford Business Journal while based in West Hartford, Conn. until Fall 2006.

Shrivastava graduated with an M.S. from the School of Journalism at Columbia University in May 2002. While at school, she won a Scripps-Howard Foundation scholarship for excellence in religion reporting and wrote about the origins of the matryoshka doll in Japan, the teen yoga fad and her experience as a crime victim in the Moscow subway. She then worked in Toronto, first as Web editor for globeandmail.com, the breaking news web site of The Globe and Mail, and later as a business writer for Report on Business TV.

In March 2003, she joined The Associated Press in New York and her stories on frozen ethnic food, private jet firms, kiddie yoga and the plunging dollar were published in The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Times, The Hartford Courant and The Miami Herald.

Her monthly lifestyle and parenting column appeared in "Mantram," a magazine marketed to Indian professionals.

In the early 90s, she was a reporter for the weekly BBC World program "India Business Report" and for Asia Business News, a Dow Jones-CNBC subsidiary. Moving to New York City in 1996, she wrote news and feature stories for "The Wire", the community newspaper of Roosevelt Island, and www.nyc10044.com, its Web site.

Co-author of "Comparative Government and Politics - Concepts and Emerging Trends", she holds a doctorate in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
