Roshini Rajkumar
Television reporter, WFTC-TV, Minneapolis

Roshini's e-mail

Roshini Rajkumar returned home to Minneapolis as a reporter and substitute anchor at WFTC-TV in 2002, having most recently worked as a reporter at WTVF in Nashville.

Roshini majored in political science and international studies at Boston College planning to become a lawyer. The TV bug hit during her time at BC, and she graduated with plans to eventually pursue a career in television reporting. Roshini did go to the University of Minnesota Law School and was sworn in to the Minnesota Bar in 1997--the whole time hoping to one day land a reporting job.

Roshini started her reporting career at KVLY in Fargo, North Dakota. A memorable interview in Fargo was Garth Brooks. After the interview wrapped, the country music star taped a special message with Roshini to send to her hair stylist in Minneapolis, a huge Garth fan. From Fargo, Roshini went to KCCI in Des Moines, Iowa. Highlights of reporting there include covering the 1999 Iowa Straw Poll, the 2000 Iowa Caucuses, and interviewing Bob Dole, Elizabeth Dole, Al Gore, and James Carville. While in Des Moines, she also did several guest spots on two local radio stations and fell in love with talk radio. Roshini joined WTVF in Nashville just after Thanksgiving 2000. Two years later, she was back in Minneapolis.

Roshini loves good restaurants, cool jazz, and professional sports. Roshini admits to having two major vices: chocolate and awards shows.

As for the news, Roshini enjoys covering human-interest stories and likes to showcase the amazing things people do and say. But she says her true passions are political stories and breaking news. She always tries to give viewers accurate information in an easy to understand way.

Roshini says she's most thankful for her amazing family and terrific mentors in both the television and legal professions.
