STEPHANIE MEHTA has been a writer at Fortune magazine covering technology and telecommunications since April 2000. From June 1999 till March 2000, she was an assistant news editor at The Wall Street Journal, reporting and editing technology stories. She wrote extensively about the telecommunications industry since 1997, focusing on the wireless and local phone companies. Ms. Mehta joined the Journal in 1994. She started as a staff reporter for the paper's Enterprise group and was promoted to deputy bureau chief of the group in 1996. Prior to joining the Journal, Ms. Mehta worked as a business reporter for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va. She received a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in English at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She is a member of several journalism organizations and sits on the board of Asian Professional Extension Inc., a group that mentors Asian American youth. A Chicago-area native, Ms. Mehta now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., with her husband Nathan Scott. -30- |
