Sukanya Krishnan

TV reporter and anchor


Sukanya Krishnan joined WPIX-11 in NYC in August 2001, and is a reporter/anchor on the morning news.

Sukanya previously worked at WCBS-2 from June 1997 through July 2001 as a general assignment reporter.

At WCBS, Sukanya worked both day and night shifts covering breaking news for CBS 2's 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts. She covered everything from the White House sex scandal, Mayor Giuliani's crack down on sex shops, the Abner Louima beating to the McGwire/Sosa homerun race.

Prior to joining CBS 2, Sukanya was a morning/noon Anchor and Reporter for WHP-TV in Harrisburg PA.

She covered various stories including TWA Flight 800, the Million Man March and the floods of 1996 which wreaked havoc on Central Pennsylvania.

Sukanya was also the 6 and 11 Anchor at WUTR-TV in Utica, New York. She got her break in broadcasting on Long Island at TV-55.

Sukanya has received various community and service awards. She is the first Indian woman to be working in the New York market at a local network affiliate.

Sukanya Krishnan was born in Madras, India. She grew up on Staten Island and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Sukanya is fluent in Tamil and Spanish.

She lives in Manhattan with her husband.
