SUKETU MEHTA is a writer and journalist who lives in New York.
He is a winner of the Whiting Writers Award, the O. Henry Prize for his fiction, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in fiction, and a SAJA Journalism Award for his journalism.
His work has appeared in Granta, Harpers Magazine, Time, Conde Nast Traveler, NPR's 'All Things Considered', The Village Voice, and Indian Literature. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop.
Suketu
has also co-written "Mission Kashmir," a Bollywood movie directed
by award-winning director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and starring Hrithik Roshan.
Suketu is currently working on two books commissioned by Knopf in the US and other publishers worldwide: a nonfiction book on Bombay, to be published in Spring 2003; and "Alphabet," a novel.
Suketu and his wife, Sunita, have two sons. His sister, Monica Mehta is a freelance journalist.
