Valmik Thapar has published four books on tigers, the latest one being The Tiger's Destiny and dedicated the last 20 years of his life to the preservation of India's tiger through conservation programs and political lobbying. His fifth book Land of the Tiger accompanies 13 WNET/BBC Nature miniseries to be aired in USA this Fall. Thapar is the presenter of this six-part series. We will be showing the first preview of the series this evening. Copies of the book are also available for reviewers.

Dr. Ullas Karanth is a scientist for the Wildlife Conservation Society of New York and is based in Bangalore. He works with respected scientists such as George Schaller and Alan Rabinowitz in the field and has developed the innovative 'camera-trap' technique for more accurately counting tigers and studying their life patterns. Dr. Karanth will talk about how science is needed to save the tiger and his experience in over 20 years of field work in India.
