    The Atlantic is looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented, and analytical Growth Optimization Manager to join the consumer business team. This role will strategize and implement the experiments and optimization strategy behind The Atlantic’s subscription growth and subscriber engagement efforts. This is a cross-functional role that works closely with stakeholders across Product & Engineering, Design, Data Science, and Research to increase conversion rates, improve retention, and encourage habit and deeper experiences.

    The Growth Optimization Manager will combine sharp thinking with creativity, and lead collaboration to drive readers to take intended actions across the customer lifecycle. The manager will be responsible for strategic thinking, the execution of experiments, and analysis and presentation of results. Candidates should bring an entrepreneurial spirit, adept organizational skills, and impeccable attention to detail.

    This position will report to the Senior Director, Consumer Strategy and Growth.

    The Growth optimization Manager will:

    • Work closely with different stakeholders to strategize, implement, and report on experiments aimed at advancing our subscription business
    • Generate informed hypotheses, develop relevant test plans, and manage execution
    • Implement tests either directly through client-side tools like VWO, Optimizely and/or work closely with product managers and engineers to stand-up tests
    • Consistently analyze optimization performance and provide regular reporting on optimization outcomes
    • Prioritize experiments backlog and new test ideas to maximize efficiencies, learnings, and performance
    • Develop creative strategy and direction in close collaboration with marketing, copy, design

    Qualifications and requirements:

    • Experience with digital optimization and experiments/testing, particularly web/UI/UX conversion optimization at a digital first organization
    • Understanding of experimental design and digital marketing/conversion rate optimization
    • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker
    • Experience with VWO and/or Optimizely, or similar A/B testing software like Crazy Egg or Omniconvert
    • Competency with HTML/CSS and javascript
    • Experience analyzing test data and visualizing results
    • Ability to liaise between teams in coordination with product and project managers and growth strategy leads
    • Willingness to explore the front-end functionality of our testing platform
    • Possesses finely tuned communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
    • An entrepreneurial and inventive approach to solving problems
