Reveal is looking for a top-notch radio editor to help us make the journalistic equivalent of broccoli tempura – stories that are not just good for you, but also taste (or, in this case, sound) great.
We combine bulletproof investigations with great narrative storytelling. You should know how to do both. The senior editor will help Reveal reporters and producers, along with contributors from public radio stations across the country, weave together intriguing stories with compelling characters, great tape and unexpected twists, all leading up to the Reveal.
You should also know radio production inside and out – to provide guidance on gathering sound, conducting interviews, creating scenes and doing digital editing. You must have sharp ears to help surface the best sound and sink stuff that just doesn’t work.
We need people who are able to juggle multiple projects at once. The editor will help shape stories and flesh out entire shows, so that each story we tell is part of a larger narrative. And like any good journalist, we need you to meet deadlines and know how to enforce them.
We are looking for someone who has worked on other national shows with a focus on long-form, narrative storytelling. You should have a strong journalism background, ideally with some experience in investigative news.
We work in an innovative, collaborative atmosphere, where ideas are bandied about, sometimes shot down, but always respected.
